STP Sewage Treatment is the Process of removing contaminants from Waste Water and House Hold Sewage. It includes physical, chemical and biological processes to remove physical, chemical and biological contaminants. Its objective is to produce an environmentally safe treated effluent and treated sludge suitable for disposal or reuse. Sewage treatment generally involves three stages called primary, secondary and tertiary treatment. Primary Treatment consists of removal of floating materials, oil & grease and suspended particles. Secondary Treatment removes dissolved and suspended biological matter. Tertiary treatment is to improve the quality of effluent by filtration and disinfection to reuse the treated water, depending upon the requirement. Any waste which by any reason of its physical, chemical, reactive, toxic, flammable, explosive or corrosive characteristics cause danger or is likely to cause danger to health or environment, whether alone or when in contact with other wastes or substances are defined as HAZARDOUS WASTES. Hazardous Wastes shall be collected, treated, stored and disposed of only in such facilities, which are having a valid authorization from SPCB. Hazardous Wastes can only be disposed in a scientifically constructed Secured Landfills except waste oils. The Secured Landfills are commonly known as Hazardous Waste Landfills or Engineered Landfills. These facilities are to be developed strictly as per guidelines issued by Central Pollution Control Board for safe disposal of Hazardous Waste.
